Do I need to know anything about tea to book?

No, and the First hour sitting exists precisely for people who do not. Four teas, plain language, no ceremony to get wrong and nobody correcting how you hold the cup. Most people who book it come back to a longer sitting within a couple of months.

Is the tasting really free of a sales pitch?

Everything poured is on sale by weight afterwards and that is the whole commercial logic, so nobody needs to push it. The room will say when something is not worth the money as readily as when it is — that is the reason the buyer's table works at all.

What actually changes month to month?

The list follows the harvest rather than a calendar. Spring greens run while this year's pick lasts, the oolong sitting is there all year because the stock is, and aged tea appears when a storage history is solid enough to talk about. There is no permanent menu on purpose.

Can I cancel or move a seat?

Free cancellation up to a day before, and moving is easier than cancelling — say which sitting suits instead and the room will hold it. A private table needs more notice, because the list is built around who is coming.
